StudioBE (including during our time as part of Hames Sharley) has worked with Victoria Legal Aid on a broad range of projects across its capital and minor works programs throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria. To date our team has delivered capital works at Sunshine, Mildura and Frankston, along with minor works at sites including Broadmeadows, Geelong and Morwell.
We are proud to have helped set the design standards for these projects. They draw on StudioBE’s research and expertise in trauma-informed design, covering visitor and staff safety, biophilic design, wellness, comfort and stress reduction. At each major works site, we also engaged with First Nations communities to commission localised artwork.
The design principles have been refined with each project, and Frankston is the latest to embed them fully. Every project has involved extensive stakeholder and end-user engagement, so the designs meet Victoria Legal Aid’s current and long-term objectives while responding to the needs of the local teams using each space.
