The project involved the development of the exterior design for a medical teaching facility at Charles Darwin University, Darwin, following an initial concept prepared by another firm. The design was documented through to completion, including the addition of an extra floor. The project was delivered as a designer-novated engagement to Shape, the builder, under a design-and-construct procurement method.
The team collaborated with other consultants such as landscape designers, services and structural engineers. The project has been defined by the close, collaborative partnership developed between the builder and design team.
The completed design reflects the tropical vernacular of the Northern Territory.
Our team was responsible for the interior design from concept through to completion, creating functional and flexible spaces tailored to a medical education environment. The facility includes staff workplace areas, teaching spaces, consulting rooms, and simulation spaces. The entire building is dedicated to university teaching of future medical staff.
